The instructions say "Connect the PMDX-126 to the smoothstepper using one or two 26-pin female to female ribbon cables" It doesn't further expand on this. Should I be using one or two. My setup is as follows and I plan to draw 5V from the ribbon cable to power the ESS.
Setup:
PMDX-126 (Rev C)
PMDX-134
ESS

The PMDX-126 can operate with a single cable to the SmoothStepper, but
using the second cable will provide 4 more inputs and 4 more outputs
that show up on J11 and J5 of the PMDX-126 respectively.
The Ethernet SmoothStepper draws too much power to recommend powering
it from the PMDX-126. It can work if you do not have a PMDX-107 or any sensors
pulling power from the PMDX-126, but an independent regulated 5 VDC power
supply for the ESS is recommended. The PMDX-126 was designed at a time when
only the USB SmoothStepper existed and it draws much less power.

Steve: Thanks. I just ordered a few cables from you guys about an hour ago. I wil get it set up with the one cable I have until the new cables arrive. Can you recommend a regulated 5V power supply? Thanks in advance.

Jeff at Soigeneris does a good job of supporting SmoothSteppers so we recommend him.
