I'm thinking my problem is also due to the resistor issue that was mentioned in another thread. I also have a 126/107 and ESS Smoothstepper and all spindle control functions are working properly and the 107 calibration routine ran perfectly with a full speed voltage taking my spindle to just a bit under the full rated speed (24000RPM) and the 30% taking it to just a bit over the recommended minimum speed (8000RPM). I have a tachometer.
My problem is getting a reasonably linear mapping of the speed settings in Mach4 to the actual speeds of the spindle. My measurements are here below

S23900  turns the spindle at 23961
S20000          "                    23961
S17500          "                    21420
S15000          "                    18365
S12000          "                    14665
S9000            "                    10970
S8000            "                      9740

I believe all my ESS,126,107and VFD settings are good as all else is working fine and the actual pin or jumper settings are consistent with documentation and settings noted in other threads in this forum. My ESS board is powered separately from the 126.

Could this be the same problem, a defective resistor on the 107, or is it something else?

Thanks

Fixed. Feel kinda dumb. It was just a case of reversing the logic on the PWM pin.

With help and advice on this forum and the Mach4 forum I finally have my VFD and spindle working. the 107 calibration worked perfectly and Mach4 turns it on and off in the proper direction. What's left is a bit of a head scratcher. The speed controls in Mach4 are inversed. While the spindle is running moving the speed control slider up for higher speed slows it down and it speeds up if the slider is moved down. Has to be a simple setting somewhere but I haven't tracked it down. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

General Discussion / Can we use both and ESS and SmartBob?
« on: December 30, 2021, 05:49:59 PM »
We have a controller at our Maker collective in Sebastopol California with all PMDX components:
PMDX179 INT
PMDX 126
G203V (4)
PMDX134
PMDX411

It also has a Warp9 ESS board installed but apparently it was decided to switch to USB connectivity with the SmartBob so members with laptops and no Ethernet ports could bring their own Mach4 instances to the router. Not a great idea but that's past history.

We'd like to switch back to using the ESS board and the question is whether we can actually have both options available, understanding that we'll have 2 Mach4 profiles.

Thanks
