Micro Switch on Z axes and using proximity,on the PMDX424 board

I have 6 Proximity switches hooked up to my PMDX 424 , to J16 and j17 terminal 1-6 after reading other post, i understand the hook up for the Proximity switches. My question is, do i use the j16 or j17 ground to run to the micro switch on my z axes and return from micro switch to j17, terminal 7 ?? using the N/O side of the switch ??.
 my plan is to use  J17  terminal 8 as a touch plate connection.

Hi Mike,

Not sure I understood your question. Assuming that you have 6 proximity switches
on inputs 1 through 6 and now want to put a mechanical micro switch for Z on
input 7, then the switch contacts would connect to GND (of either J16 or J17) and
to Input 7 on J17. You can use either the N/O or N/C contacts depending on how
you set the Active Low property in Mach4. We typically prefer to use the N/C
side because a broken wire would result in Mach thinking the switch had triggered.

You can use a touch plate by connecting Input 8 to the plate, which is insulated
from the work piece and the machine table. You then need to be sure that the
cutting tool is connected to GND. We prefer an "alligator" clip directly onto the
tool rather than assuming a connection through the spindle.
