Spindle Frequency?
« on: March 07, 2019, 08:26:16 PM »
I bought and installed a new 1.5hp water-cooled spindle with an inverter to run it. Inverter is https://www.valinonline.com/products/esv112n01sxb . Now whenever I switch the spindle on it triggers my limit switches (in Mach3) and I can only reset it when the spindle is not running. Would adding a line reactor to the inverter help? Spindle and limit switch wiring is all shielded and properly grounded.

I'm virtually at a standstill. Any help?

What breakout boards, etc. do you have between your PC and the spindle?

Everyone's idea of "properly grounded" is different.  Can you describe (or draw) your grounding scheme.

Make sure the power wiring to the inverter and spindle is as far away from all other wiring as physically possible.  And don't have long parallel runs of the power spindle power wiring and any limit/home switch wiring.  Even if the cables are shielded, the switching current in the spindle inverter and resulting electrical noise can radiate all over the place.
