connecting spindle and 4 axis
« on: June 20, 2017, 09:55:04 AM »
I had to replace a cnc card  (DSP 0501 system) with a PMDX 126 B.
I connected 4 axis and 220V,
I need to connect Spindle motor for milling.
As seen in the photos was set in J7 with the pin of the card 0501 named S0 S1 S2 and Sp- ie off, on and programmed speeds and finally the phase -

Where could I connect spindle cables on the 126b? J5 A,B,C,gnd?

The x y z c axis connections (5v,pulse,dir) seem right but how do I have to set mach3 without ever using it? Will the plugin file for boards 125 / 125 help me completely?
There is a normal connection to the computer parallel port .

thanks

(drivers are called QJ8060 and motors are nema34 6A and 4,5A, Spindle Colombo 3,7kw with Xinfutai inverter)

It looks like your old DSP 0501 controlled the Xinfutai inverter by
selecting one of three speeds using S0, S1, or S2. If this is true,
and you only need a single speed, then you could connect the
desired speed (S0, S2, or S3) using the relay on the PMDX-126.
It looks like the red wire from J7 of the DSP 0501 was connected
to the terminal labeled SP- and that wire would now connect to
COM of J9 on the PMDX-126. One of the S0, S1, or S3 wires
would connect to the N/O of J9 on the PMDX-126. You would
need to configure the Mach3 output selected for M3 so that it
controls pin 1 of port 1 in order to turn the relay associated
with J9 on and off. This would allow single speed ON/OFF
control of your spindle.

If you want to actually control the speed from G-code, then you
will need to add a PMDX-107 option card to your PMDX-126. This
will also require re-configuring some of the parameters in the
inverter. We can help with that if you provide a link to the
documentation on the inverter or at least a model number so
we can search for the manual.

Thanks Steve for the perfect answer, I live in Italy,
As an urgent need now to run the machine even with manual spindles, speeds at that point imposed on mach3 before ignition, I seem to have understood
without giving it gcode speeds that can not be read.
Do i need the 125 126 plugin file or else would this help me with many parameters to set up?

at last, thank you again, the file from cam (artcam) for mach3 has a file format preferences, about reading or precision?

I probably will need again help about installing mach3 ...

The plug-in for the PMDX-126 and Mach3 is for features that
you do not intend to use, and it should NOT be installed.

I know little about ArtCAM and will not try to advise you
about using it. It would be better to use the Mach3 forums
to ask others questions. See:
